Run For Her: DOHS Organizes The Global Race Against Femicide 2.

With over 140 Gender Related killings of Women and Girls in the first 9 months of 2025, The fight against femicide takes center stage again this November, during the 16 Days of Activism, as the DOHS Cares Foundation hosts the Global Race Against Femicide 2, themed “Run for Her.” The 5 Kilometer awareness run will take place on Saturday, 29th November 2025, at Agege Stadium, Lagos, bringing together activists, families, athletes, and advocates to raise their voices against the rising cases of femicide in Nigeria and beyond.

This year’s event carries a powerful message: every step taken is for the countless women whose lives have been cut short by gender-based violence. The campaign is a run for justice, remembrance, and solidarity.

“Femicide is not just a statistic; it is the violent erasure of daughters, sisters, mothers, and friends,” said Ololade Ajayi, Race Convener and Founder of DOHS Cares Foundation. “Through this run, we call on the world to recognize femicide as a global crisis and demand justice for victims while ensuring protection for potential survivors.”

Race with Purpose

Participants will be joining a global movement to:

Raise awareness about femicide, particularly in Nigeria where cases remain underreported and justice delayed.

Demand justice for victims of femicide and gender-based violence.

Raise funds for the DOHS Safe Shelter Rent Initiative, providing refuge for women at risk of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and femicide.

Track femicide cases, strengthening advocacy and data collection for accountability.

Why “Run for Her” Matters

The theme “Run for Her” underscores the urgency of collective action. Each runner represents not only a call for justice but also a lifeline for survivors who need safe spaces and support systems. The names printed around the runner on the flyer remind participants of the real lives behind the statistics — women like Alodi Johnson, Shakirat Ojo, Chisom Ayogu, Sahara Mamuda, Pereira Adijat and many others whose tragic deaths demand remembrance and justice.

How to Join

Registration is now open, with a simple scan of the QR code on the flyer leading to the official sign-up page. Participants are encouraged to lace up not only for fitness but for advocacy, solidarity, and action.
